Baur Family

The earliest ancestor of the Baur family Johannes Baur is first documentary mentioned at the baptism of his sons Joannes Baur, born November 11, 1650, and Johannes Baur, born March 28, 1653, both born in Zell/Danube next to Riedlingen/Danube. It was not possible to find baptism record of the earliest ancestor due to the very incomplete parish registers, which were also partially damaged during the Thirty Years' War. He may be born about 1619.

Zell is situated in the neighbourhood of the "Bussen", a pilgrimage mountain next to Riedlingen/Danube. Thenceforward the Baur ancestors lived in Zell continuously until 20th century. Their wifes descended from Zell or small towns in the direct neighborhood of the "Bussen". It is possible they got known each other on the pilgrimage to this "Holy Mountain".

Only when Johann Georg Baur, born in 1841, married into the "Specker-Hof" (farm) in Binzwangen/Danube, this family branch existed also there. His son Fidel Baur was born in Binzwangen in 1874. Together with his wife Kreszentia (Creszentia) he was extremely fruitful, they had 17 children. He passed away one day after the death of his wife.
